Well... a sound-bite belief is a statement which is a greatly reduced religious tenet or creed like "God is love" or "All Gods are One God"... a sound-bite believer is a person who latches on to these "short, striking, quotable statements" without ever really getting past the sound-bite itself or feeling it's enough to self-interpret without study and reflection (so an uneducated opinion).

Great example of a sound-bite, but not what I am identifying with the term sound-bite belief.

A sound-bite belief is specifically a greatly reduced religious tenet, creed, dogma, or doctrine like "God is love" (Christian), "Honor the Gods" (Hellenic), Â "Harm None" (Wiccan), "As above, so below" (Hermetic)... not really a problem because it is an easy way to explain beliefs to someone outside your religion without getting to heavy.

Because "What would Jesus do?" makes no actual statement of belief or judgment... no statement of spiritual truth... no statement of a principle, position, rule, or law taught or advocated by any religion.... no statement of an established religious opinion, belief, or code. A sound-bite belief is an answer, not a question. "What would Jesus do?" makes no statement.
