Hadley, Mass. — A woman charged with burning down a Belchertown home that also served as a pagan church is ordered held without bail.
A judge in Eastern Hampshire District Court Monday determined that defendant Evan Walgren should be held without bail because she violated the conditions of her release on Feb. 1 that barred her from returning to the property at 140 Gulf Rd.
She was arrested then for vandalizing the home.Prosecutors allege that Walgren, 46, returned to Nature’s Church the next day, sprayed WD-40 on the gas stove, cabinets and countertops and set the stove alight. The building was destroyed.
Police said Walgren’s father left the building to the church when he died about a decade ago and Walgren was trying to reclaim the property.
